Last week Abbie and Spencer and I made our fanciest Lincoln Log house yet.And we had to get a picture of Humpty before he got lovingly tossed in the recycle bin. Abbie insisted on going outside to take the picture and just look how beautiful those mountains are!
Last Sunday was about the warmest day we’ve had recently and the kids were convinced that a nice nap on the lawn in the sun was the best place for them. Once they were out for a while they discovered that it wasn’t quite as warm as they thought, but there were some fun birds to watch eating the leftover apples at the top of our tree. I took them out our bird book so they could figure out what kind they were, but they couldn’t find them. I think my nap on the couch was the more restful of the two ideas, but theirs was probably “funner.”
Abbie and Spencer helped me dip some pretzels so we could have a fun treat for General Conference. (But with Easter the same day, we forgot to eat them…silly us!) So they wouldn’t have to reach in the bowl and get a pretzel each time they stacked a few extras on their pinkies. I’m not sure if that really saved us any time or not. :-) And why they have bibs on I can’t remember, but I’m sure it was an important part of the process.
Each year at Easter the kindergarteners have an Egg Drop where they figure out how to protect a hard boiled egg and then it gets tossed off the top of the school. For Abbie this year we wrapped her egg in big bubble wrap. Check out that happy smile!
Some of the other eggs were wrapped in a diaper, had parachutes attached to them, were wrapped in a sweatshirt, etc. One was even in a plastic water bottle filled with water. That one didn’t make it and the bottle exploded upon hitting the ground sending out a small spray of water, but the kids LOVED it! Abbie’s only cracked a little and when she showed it to her teacher for a picture, her teacher commented that she wasn’t surprised that it had cracked because Abbie had “trial tested” it SO MANY times in her class room.
It was still fun and she peeled and ate her egg on the way to the car without any salt at all.

The log house, wow! I remember building with you, Julie, and Mark. The good old days!
Humpty is very cute and it is nice to have the art without the clutter!
A nap on the lawn sounds like a great kid idea. I'm with you Julie, the couch sound more restful!
Way cute pictures of dipping pretzels! Love the one of Abbie with them stacked on her pinky. The bibs made me laugh and then when I read that you could not remember why they had them on I got to laugh again. I love kids!
Good Job on the egg drop. I think it is so funny that she repeatedly “trial tested” it! Silly Abbie!
