“Rainbow, double rainbow!” has been the call through our house a couple of times in July and we all run outside to ooh and aah. Jessie took some pictures for us. I asked her to make sure someone was in some of them, cause rainbows are awesome, but even better when you can see your family with them.
We went to the Owlz game with Ken’s family and David and some friends also came. We got seats down the first base line at Mark’s request so he could try and catch a foul ball. We didn’t have much luck that way, but the Owlz mascots did come over to say hi. Neil was totally enthralled with them, which was great because I had forgotten to bring his shoes and so I had to keep him up on the chairs and that was a hard feat. We spent part of the game with him feeding his Trix’s cereal to Rachel and Grandpa who were sitting right in front of us. That was cute! Jessie was working on her afghan during the game and one of the mascots playfully tried to take it away from her and get her to watch the game. It was funny.
When David and his friends arrived some the kids went over to sit on the grass with them. My telephoto lens makes pretty good spy gear. We got this pictures of he and Abbie from our seats and they were sitting in the outfield down the third base line. David is in the blue and red shirt and Abbie in the pink one right above their names.
I really wanted to make some extra shelves for the kid’s rooms. The trip to get the wood was an experience that I’d rather forget (it took over 2 hours to get some wood and have them cut it!). But the kids were great helpers sanding and Mark and Abbie helped me stain them. Using power tools to drill the holes for the nails was another high point. It was fun to do together. I would have to say my kids have no appreciation for wood stain. They thought the plain wood looked better and that just look unfinished to me. So the ones for the boys room are all hung and decorated and my dad is making some book ends for three that go in the girl’s room.
Jessie and I found a totally awesome you-tube video on doing a 4 strand braid. We tried it as a french braid the first time and it turned out way cool!! Her whole head was curly, not just wavy, the next day because the braid is three dimensional instead of flat like a regular french braid.
Neil threw a royal fit one Sunday and after spending an hour and a half in the mother’s lounge tying to get him to stop crying at the top of his lungs I found Ken and let him know I was going home for the last 10 minutes of church and to make sure the kids picked up my bag from the RS room. Neil totally fell asleep as soon as we laid down together in my bed. The kids were chuckling at him when they got home because he was still whimpering in his sleep. Poor sweet baby!
Fun stuff: Spencer’s clay octopus, Abbie’s clay rings, Jessie’s progress on her afghan and Jessie’s new passion: food photography. That’s her new occupation of choice, “a world famous food photographer.” Neil loves string cheese but chokes on the strings so we just cut the stick up into discs and Jessie discovered that they fit perfectly on oyster crackers. Now doesn’t that look like a tasty snack.
