The Rest of Spring Break

I bet Mark spent half of Spring Break playing games, and the other half doing this…with several books.DSC_0009Jessie made a harness for her horse while she and Abbie were cleaning off their dresser.DSC_0011I got a new REAL pencil sharpener because I was tired of losing all the tiny  trinket ones the kids bring home from school that don’t really work anyway.  Wow….after I got it installed I had Spencer fighting with Mark to help.  Nothing quite like getting something new to inspire a few workers, right?DSC_0013One morning was puzzle morning.  Jessie, Mark and Abbie did every puzzle we have in our game closet; well I did help them finish up the cow puzzle, but that’s because pieces of a similar pig puzzle which got thrown away a long time ago were mixed in with it.  Oops, I hope that’s not where the missing pieces for the pig puzzle were hiding.  Then Jessie started on the dominos.DSC_0019Mark was very excited with the domino idea and we cleared the table back off to make room for more fun.DSC_0021Mark was so kind he let Abbie push the first domino to get it started…DSC_0022DSC_0023 ….and then made several other patterns too.  One with each letter of Spencer’s name for Spencer to push over and another fancy one with diamonds for me to push over.  Dominos have been the new rave around here.

We did a couple of art projects too.  Here are some q-tip paintings with acrylic paints.  This was fun and easy and supplied half the neighborhood that was over here too with something to do.DSC_0028DSC_0029DSC_0030DSC_0035 And I found this oh so cute and easy idea in the Family Fun Magazine while the big kids and I were down at the library.  I can email you this picture for the instructions….they’re probably hard to read since I resized the picture for the blog.  (This is my favorite way to store good ideas.  Just take a picture of them and move the picture to my “kid ideas” folder on the computer.)

Mark suggested that we could dry emboss the lily part with my Big Shot and so everyone but Abbie picked out a design and that was nice because when Ken got home it was easy for them to pick out their own to show him.DSC_0025Jessie was the first to decide her flowers shouldn’t smell like paper and so she disappeared into her room and came back with perfumed flowers.  Not to be left out Abbie and Spencer ran and got some body spray off my dresser and ran back to ask if they could likewise enhance their flowers.

LOVE the lilies. Thanks for the idea. I will save it in my memory banks for next EAster.

Hey - do you have any cute homemade card blogs? Where do you get all of your ideas? More info, please.

Conrad also spent lots of his spring break reading. Mark, what books would you like to recommend?
I Love that the real pencil sharpener was suck a huge hit! Yesterday Karina spent most of the day playing with a small paper shopping bag with handles. I love toys that have other real functions!
That is a lot of puzzles!
Dominos are so much fun! I am glad you have enough to make cool things! If you have ever seen the movie Robots it has lots of cool patterns and ideas for Dominos.
I do love the flowers! They turned out great!

Sounds like you had a great break. We tried the q-tip painting after looking at this and my kids loved it. They are also quite envious of your new pencil sharpener. :)
