Olympic Fever

Neil discover the bag of Mr. Potato Head parts down stairs and brought them up to play with.  We made several silly guys!

Man did the Olympics kill our bed time schedule!  But they were a ton of fun and of course inspired many little athletes in our family to move the couch cushions to the floor to make comfy landing spots for all the awesome jumps they were practicing.

Rachel brought down fruits and veggies in all the Olympic colors and sugar cookie rings to decorate.  Isaac skipped the cookie part and just went for the sprinkles….TWICE!!!

And that week was one of the worst Ken has ever had in relation to work.  He was vacuuming dust out of a computer and accidently fried the the main hard drive/back up something or other.  After three days and nights of getting new parts, several midnight runs to SLC and restoring old back ups, heaven smiled on him and the huge catastrophe was fixed with only a day or so of data that had to be redone.  Ahhhhh…..what a weekend!

Our Olympic homemade pizza picnic night.  The kids loved the ice skating, skelton races, and snowboarding. Little Emma is one month old. A lovely rain on Sunday morning was so exciting for the kids.  And Abbie got to use her new umbrella.  Playing in the rain is the best.

One last picture before we leave for home. As we left to get in the van we noticed the moon with this huge ring around it.  So cool! The picture doesn’t even do it justice. Emma was asleep in my arms and it was time for Neil’s nap (Isaac was already sleeping – he is the BEST napper!) I was tired too, so we laid down together in Abbie’s bed.  I woke up after about an hour and these two were snuggled together.  Oh so sweet! The Monday before Grandma left to go home she helped do FHE.  She and Jessie made us dirt pudding for dessert.  We practiced a verse from Faith is like a Little Seed by drawing pictures for the different phrases and sing it and then she helped the kids plant lettuce.

I was so happy when the lettuce sprouted.  We watered it and Mark even remembered to take it outside on the warm days and bring it back in at night.  And we did that for a month and a half and it never got any bigger than a sprout, then we forgot to water it for a couple of days and then we we did water it, but it was too late.  Blah!  At least we tried.

Ken’s mom took a trip up to see her dad once he was able to be back at his own home after a couple of surgeries on his heart.  Mark really wanted to make a wood animal for Grandma to take up to him. This is from the new wood book he got for his birthday.  He got it all cut out and then had to go to sleep.  So I helped to finish stain it and Ken and I made a midnight run with little Emma to take it down to Ken’s parents house.  We left the package inside the front door and sent them a text.  They found it and took Grandma took it to Grandpa Fry.  Yea…it all worked out.  For Valentine’s Day we got some packages of Kool-aid and I made some little tags that said: Have a KOOL Valentine’s Day.  Neil was so excited to help Spencer and Abbie staple the tags on.  They were a little nervous about their fingers being so close to a stapler they weren’t in control of.
