Although we didn’t know it at the time, some business meetings that took Ken up to Midway turned out to be a great thing for us. We had arranged for the kids to stay with his parents for the day and a half we’d be gone. The kids had a great time hiking up to The Grotto in Payson. It was a lucky date because Great-Grandpa Fry was down visiting from Washington and got to go with them. Abbie came home with a grocery sack full of leaves she collected on the trail (which is still hanging full on the back handle of the front door), and Mark and Jessie filled Grandpa’s memory card on the camera. I’m so thankful for family!! And so thankful to live close enough for my kids to have such great memories! (If you missed Spencer he was with Grandma taking Randy to karate.)
Anyway, 4 days prior to this little trip Ken got to have a little meeting with the Stake Presidency and was called to serve as the 1st counselor in our new bishopric. I think that I was more over whelmed than he was. I was an emotional basket case, not because I didn’t want him to serve, but because change is sometimes hard, and I happen to be a slightly selfish person sometimes. So this little break from real life and responsibly was nice. And it was just so fun to be together.
Monday I worked on Abbie’s scrapbook until his meetings were over and then we rented bikes and went for a 2 1/2 hour bike ride. I admit it I got off and pushed my bike up some of the hills, but it was still fun and coming back down those hills was thrilling. We had dinner with some really neat people from the meetings and I even got a new recipe for zucchini brownies that I’m excited to try.
After Tuesday's meetings we went for a little hike with the camera so we could capture all the beautiful scenery we’d seen on our bike ride.
Now you’ll have to check out Abbie’s scrapbook slideshow because I got 10 pages done!! Yeah ME!!
Spencer’s 4 now. And anywhere we go he whispers to me, “Mom, tell them I had my birthday!”This was SO cute! In kindergarten on the kids’ birthdays Abbie’s teacher hold the kids hands and helps them lead the class in “Happy Birthday,” only after each line of the song she shakes the kids from side-to-side with “cha-cha-cha.” Abbie was so excited to present Spencer with a new birthday song. They laughed and laughed.
A traditional “birthday rap” from Randy.
Scott and his family got Spencer a great game that the kids passed around immediately. Without looking put your face through the face hole on a card. And then, like 20 questions, you try to figure out what you are. (Scott’s a monkey.)
The kids picked out one for Kyle that they thought was hilarious! -- a ballerina.
Soon we had two going at a time.

I love Spencer's cake, so cute! And what a great game, I'll try to remember to ask you it's name, I think the kids would have a blast with it.
Sounds like it was a fun little vacation! I love all of the nature pictures! Spencer's party look all so cute and fun! Very Spencer-ie! The new game looks awsome! Perhaps I could put one together for our kid-os, they might like that!
