One Last Missouri Picture

The very last night in Missouri one of my best friends came over and we stayed up until after midnight talking and laughing. And in the course of the evening it started pouring rain. By the time she left the back yard of my parents house had a 5 foot wide river running through it that wrapped around the side of the house and ran out into the street.

It was so amazing. Not that I haven't seen rain like that before, just that I forgot how much I love it and love hearing the thunder so loud that it shakes the house.

Heather got ready to leave with Karina after my friend and got part way down the street and Michael called letting her know the power had just gone out at her place, so she came back home and after she put Karina down for the night she, Rachel and I went a walk in the rain.

It was great -- one in the morning and soaking wet. We went splashing all down the street. Standing in the gutters there was so much water and it was running so fast that it would push against our legs up to our knees. We got near the end of the street and the thunder crashed so loud that we all turned around to go back home at the same time. It was great to be to silly and feel like a kid again.

I LOVED it when it rained like that when we were in Nauvoo. My kids were out in it and soaking wet after about 1 minute! It rained so hard and so fast...amazing! That's one of my kids favorite memories of that trip! (The lightning bugs were a close second!)
