Carthage

In the evening after the temple we headed over to the Carthage Jail where Joseph Smith was martyred. We were lucky enough to go on a tour by ourselves through the jail. There was a special spirit there. Even though bad things had happened there, it was so peaceful. I am so thankful every time I have the opportunity to learn more of the prophet Joseph: truly a man to emulate in his testimony of the Savior and his determination to choose to do right no matter what.

This is Ken and the kids outside the jail. The second story window is the one the prophet fell from.
That evening we went to "Sunset along the Mississippi." It was a song/dance/story telling performance, but part way through the rain started come down and they had to cancel the rest of the show. By the time we got back to the house we were staying in the rain had quite, oh well. Jessie's favorite part was the telling of "Rendercella"; the Cinderella story -- but really silly.
