Tuesday and Wednesday of Spring Break

Tuesday Ken’s Aunt got us passes to the YMCA where she volunteers.  Ken taught Mark and Spencer how to play racquetball.  They LOVED it.  There was a rock wall too.  Abbie went on it 8 times!!  You could see her little legs just shaking and shaking while she climbed, but she loved it.  The ladies working there with the kids were awesome.  They remembered their names and offered lots of encouragement.  The kids also got to swim at the indoor pool – one of their favorite activities.  This was a cold and rainy day, just perfect for playing inside.When we got back from that we played some games with Grandpa Fry. 

Wednesday we were thinking of going to the zoo but ended up riding the ferry to Seattle.  The kids were really looking forward to riding the ferry so it worked out perfectly.  We didn’t have to be there super early to catch a ride and the kids enjoyed a relaxing morning.  I love this picture Ken took of them all piled on the couch watching a video on the iPad.

The kids loved the ferry, but the wind made it pretty chilly.  After being out on the decks for a while we played some Yam Slam and Ken and Neil showed Grandpa pictures on Instagram.

The wind wasn’t so bad at the back of the ferry.

In Seattle we walked along the wharf…not much to see… and then had lunch at Ivars.  Jessie and I got some chicken and the rest enjoyed seafood and clam chowder.  The kids each kept 3 french fries to feed to the seagulls and then some other customers donated their left over fries to my kids’ great delight.  There was also another family that shared some bread they had brought, so nice!  Abbie and Spencer got  the birds to snatch the fries right out of their hands and it reminded me the last time we were in Washington and Grandpa Fry showed the kids how to get the “camp robber” birds to snatch some bread right out of your hand.

The ferry ride back was mostly spent outside, but the big kids and I played half a game of Quiddler.  Isaac did not like the wind at all!  Ken and the kids watched the ferry dock and then a worker had to remind them they had to get off the boat.

After dinner we went to Bachmann Park to throw rocks into the ocean.  When we got there we meet a nice family with 7 month old triplets!!  What a cute crew they had.  I think it is funny how much kids love this park with rocks as the only toys.

Jessie was the only one who wanted to wade in this time, but even she didn’t stay in too long.  And she found a tasty treat…..yuck!

Abbie’s collection of rocks for Mark to skip on the water for her.Even Isaac loved the rocks.  He also discovered birds today and sounds like Bambi, “Burrr.”  Watching him sign bird is so stinking cute!At Grandpa’s house the kids noticed his pull up bar and Isaac got in on the action too – and he did not want to let go!
