The end of Spring Break and Conference

Mark and Jessie really wanted to go to the Seattle Temple while we were visiting.  They didn’t get up as early as Grandpa usually does :-).  Ken’s cousins joined them while I stayed home with the 4 other kids.  The drive over to the temple is 1 1/2 hours….which for us Utah folks seems a little long…..Jessie started playing with setting on the camera and got this silly picture of Mark.IMG_2393When they got to the temple all the cheery blossoms were welcoming them.  It was beautiful!!IMG_2396

Even though the drive was long the wait for baptisms wasn’t!  They changed and got right in.  So I guess they spent about the same amount of time overall, just the waiting part was in the car and not sitting in the baptistery.  They got a good chuckle listening to the temple workers who were commenting on how busy the baptistery was that day.  Grandpa Fry got to help be a witness and Ken did the baptizing.  A great day.

While they were gone I did laundry and started packing.  Spencer and Abbie found these little shot glasses with handles in Grandpa’s cupboard and spent the morning pouring themselves cupfuls of apple juice….a tablespoon at a time.  Grandpa surprised them and sent the glasses home with us.  FUN, FUN!DSC_0452Neil loved the puddles in Grandpa’s driveway and was getting fairly good at remembering to grab someone's sandals to put on before he went out.DSC_0453Abbie loves to help!  While we were at Grandpa’s she always asked him what she could do to help (with out any adult promptings.)  This night she helped grate the cheese while Grandpa cut the lettuce for our taco salad.  She and Grandpa had a running joke about things being PERFECT.DSC_0454

Isaac got to try a popsicle after dinner…he didn’t really care for it- and since I was sharing mine with him I was ok with that.  :-)2013-04-04 18.22.18

Since it had been raining all day and I hadn’t been anywhere, after dinner I took Mark, Neil and Spencer back to Bachmann Park for one last round of rocking throwing.  I couldn’t believe how much cooler it was down by the ocean – just a short drive from Grandpa’s house.  We tried taking pictures of the splashes we made and the rain even stopped while we were there.  The game we played was to have one person throw in a rock and the rest of us would try to throw our rock into the same spot.  It was harder than you think.

On the drive back to Grandpa’s house we took a small detour looking for pretty flowers and magnolia trees.  I just love spring!!  Spencer couldn’t believe how big the magnolia petals were.IMG_2448

IMG_2449Right before bed poor Neil tripped on a rug Grandpa has under his stone coffee table and jabbed himself in the head right on the corner of the table.  SADNESS…  I think he’ll have a scar from that one.  Ken helped him take this picture so he could see it and hopefully we could convince him to let us hold the bag of frozen peas on it.2013-04-04 20.15.14The 20 questions hand held game was one of the kids favorite….they even took it to bed with them.IMG_2461Abbie is really asleep in this picture and Neil and Jessie pretended for me.  So glad Abbie didn’t roll off.IMG_2462The kids were so good on the drive back home.  Once it got dark we broke out the glow sticks from our friend’s package and played with them.  Isaac was especially impressed.2013-04-05 20.34.44Home Sweet Home.  Before bed Neil helped me count 34 blooming tulips in our front flower bed so he could go tell Abbie the exciting news.  Rachel came down on Saturday and watched conference with us.2013-04-06 14.42.35I bet you’ll never guess who wouldn’t take a nap and then fell asleep on Abbie’s floor after the last session…..DSC_0455
