We’ll start this post with a fun Saturday outing we took the kids on. It’s called family pictures. Are you thinking what my kids were thinking…. “fun???” Well, take a look at a few of these and tell me we weren’t having fun. The ones that actually made it to the wall are down the side bar, so don’t forget to take a look!
Neil wasn’t shy of the camera, he just didn’t want to look at the camera; he wanted to look at dad. We also had to play a few “down, up” games and wipe the slime a couple of times. But he’s still just cute.
A few good ones, a few silly ones….
Jessie talked everyone into a “The Thinker” pose except Neil, he was too busy running away.
We tried to get a picture with all the kids for the wall too, but this was taking things a little too far. All Neil wanted was the fruit snack bribes Ken had run back to the car for and pretty soon everyone was joining him. Plus it was getting too dark anyway…
And here was the final picture of the evening. Definitely time for dinner!
Neil LOVES Jessie’s flip flops! Sometimes he even manages to get his toes in the right place.
For Spencer’s birthday he picked to have blue malt-o-meal for breakfast. It looked like we were eating play dough. Although it was quite a bit less salty than the play dough I’ve made – thank goodness.
I put together a little party for him after school because he really wanted to celebrate on his birthday and we weren’t going to celebrate with Ken’s family until Friday. It turned out to be quite fun. I made a birthday banner and cupcakes for him.
Jessie painted faces and we played with the rocket launcher he got for his birthday last year. The boys had a blast trying to catch the rocket after it shot off the launcher.
And his biggest surprise of the evening was tickets to the BYU vs CFU (Central Florida) game which had a great exciting ending and we won. (Ken was a little hoarse when he got home that night.) So it turned out to be a great birthday.
Neil somehow talked Ken into letting him have a sucker. And then I banished him to be strapped into the high chair until it was gone. What a sticky mess!!On Friday we had our remembering Brian hot dog roast up Whiting Campground. It was a beautiful evening and so nice to be with family.
Jessie found a few new bug friends.
We tried to keep Neil out of the fire.
And we opened presents with Spencer.
And incase you are reading this in Google Reader (or something of the sort) and are unable to see the pictures of the kids in the side bar – the pictures of the kids I ordered finally came in the mail and we took them with us up to Whiting to give to Ken’s parents.
Jessie has been doing a fabulous job at practicing her flute. It has been to fun to be able to hear her improving so quickly! She’s learned a ton of new notes and enjoys playing through some of the hymns and making up her own music. She and Mark have been practicing a little duet too. Neil also loves to practice Jessie’s flute….
Ken was able to get tickets to the Saturday morning session of conference for Jessie, Mark and him. Abbie really wanted to go too and when Grandma heard that her ward also had Saturday morning tickets she got one for Abbie – Thanks Grandma! The kids were SO EXCITED!! They got to ride Trax into downtown and had a great experience. They were each proud to show me the notes they had taken when they got home and tell me what their favorite parts were.
After conference on Sunday we went to visit Grandma Jennie.
We had a nice visit with her while the kids took turns with her wheel chair. Mark is the most proficient with it and was backing up and whipping around corners while the other kids were being very cautious – thank goodness! Even Neil insisted on a turn.
And here’s one more picture of Neil in Spencer’s slipper this time. A much better fit.

I LOVE all the funny pictures of Neil, they're hilarious! Congrats again, I'm soooooo excited!
I think my favorite picture is the one of Spencer holding the monopod up! I'll admit, it reminds me a bit of me. :)
Love all the new pictures! I think my fav is Spencer's thinking face! He is getting so big! Exciting news~!! Mom told me and I had to tell everyone! What a great way to tell everyone! I will keep it a secret that I knew first! ;-) Blue breakfast! Fun stuff! Love the birthday party afterschool! What a fun surprise taking him to a game! One of the best part about kids is getting to do the things they enjoy with them! Right hoarse Ken, you can just nod! :-)
I did not know Jessie was playing the flute! So cool! Love the pics of Neil with it! Silly baby!
Those are some beautiful cookies you made! Do you think maybe Neil inherited my "frosting gene?" (For his sake, I hope not!)
I love his scrunch face! So cute!
